2024 Election
Election Basics
Campaign Advertisements
Most campaign advertisements have a written or spoken disclosure identifying the political committee that was the source of advertisement. In some instances, a disclosure on the advertisement will also identify who provided funding to the committee. Check the advertisement for disclosures to find out who sent is responsible for the advertisement. You can then look up information about the sender of the advertisement, including the source of the sender’s funding and how much the sender spent on advertisements. (See Track the Money below)
Track the Money
- Big money contributors to state ballot measures and independent expenditure campaign
- Campaign filings for state candidates and committees
- Local Offices – campaign filings for local elections are filed with local elections offices. Many local jurisdictions have campaign statements available on their websites. Links to some local jurisdictions’ online campaign statements can be found on the AB 2151 - Local Campaign Filings page.
- If the filings are not available electronically, contact the local election official. County election offices can be found on the County Elections Offices page on the Secretary of State website.
